Basic Information:
Established in 2004,the Department of Management Engineering of Mingde College of Guizhou University offers four majors to students—project management, business administration, administration and engineering cost.
Up to now,we have delivered over 3,600 qualified professionals to the society, and our graduates are distributed in government, construction, real estate and business services, public administration, social security, social organizations, education, finance and other industries. Through the theoretical and professional practice education,employment adaptation period of the students is greatly shortened, and they can quickly live up to the expectations of the employers and institutions, and become the key employees and are well received by the employers.
Supported by relevant professional colleges of Guizhou University, we have a strong faculty in our department. Currently, more than 50 teachers are there in our department, among them 22 are associate professors, accounts for 43% of the total, and 40 others have master’s degree or above, accounts for 80% of the faculty. Some teachers obtain the qualifications such as national registered structural engineer, registered supervision engineer, registered consulting engineer, real estate appraiser, and senior economist,etc. More than 40% teachers are double-qualified teachers, and some teachers have won some awards like Guizhou Science and Technology Progress Award, Guizhou Excellent Engineering Design Award, Building safety and civilization construction model site,etc. Under the guidance of the principle--scientific research promotes teaching, we attach great importance to the training of teachers. Therefore, we have a large number of achievements in teaching and scientific research every year. So far,our teachers have more than 100 papers published, including 16 core periodicals, more than 10 subjects, and more than 52 training.Over the years, the teaching and scientific research level of our department has reached a new stage, which further guarantees the steady improvement of teaching quality.
We persist in the quality of running a school, and pay attention to the theory and practice in teaching. We provide the students with many specialized laboratories, such as measurement, cost, business management, project management sand table, etc. Also, we have many relatively stable practice training bases and excellent school enterprise cooperation units outside the school, which can meet the needs of the discipline construction and the training of special talents. Under the guidance of teachers, students have participated in various national application skills competitions and have obtained good honors many times.
School-running characteristic
1. Integrating teaching with practice and providing employment-oriented majors.
Teaching and practice are closely linked to promote students' growth and success. We set up training rooms involving many professional basic courses and professional core courses, such as project management sand table training room, engineering cost software (Guang Lianda software) training room, business management simulation training room, engineering management and cost professional training room, etc. Learning from the curriculum setting system of the related specialized colleges of the Guizhou University,we should combine it with the characteristics of our department, focus more on the design and implementation of the practical course and then improve the practical ability of the students. In order to strengthen the practice process, since 2014,we have carried out the trimester system (one month for specialty practice in the third semester), which greatly improve students’ practice ability and help shorten their employment adaptation period.
Professional education adheres to the principle of social demand oriented.While strengthening professional basic education, we should increase the classic reading links and improve students' comprehensive quality. The teaching curriculum design and teaching content closely follow the needs of the current social development, adjust the elective courses flexibly, combine the teaching practice link, and enhance the students' ability to adapt to the society. We should strengthen employment information guidance, help students broaden their employment channels and raise their initial employment rate.
In the past three years, students majoring in engineering management and engineering cost participated in the national vocational skills competition in Guizhou province and won awards--2017 BIM application skills competition won the BIM5D Construction Project Cost Management Special ,first place and BIM Cost Application Skills Competition group ,third place;In 2015, we won the second place in the Metrology Skill Competition and also second place in Project Management Sand Table Simulation and Bidding Simulation; In 2014, we won the second place and third place in Project Management Sand Table Simulation respectively , and two more second places in the Bidding Simulation.
2. Emphasizing individuality in student management and focusing on characteristics in student work
We encourage students to participate in various associations in combination with their own special skills and interests, take part in regular CEO competitions regarding their own development needs, share their Party spirits, join the "three to the countryside", and take the bedroom design competition.Through these interesting, diverse and rich students' activities, the students are trained to love our college and department, to harmonize the relationship between teachers and students, to develop the students' good personality, and to promote their understanding and study of their majors.These organizations and student activities are also a kind of campus culture, which not only enriches the students' amateur life, but also exercises the students' organizational, communication and practical abilities.

1. Administration
Training objectives: In order to cultivate our students as the application-oriented talents,we adhere to the training principle of application-oriented undergraduate with "strengthening the foundation, emphasizing practice and focusing on quality". Owning the knowledge of administration, management, economics, politics and law,our graduates not only master their major knowledge well but also have very strong practice ability,therefore, they are welcomed by many employers like governments, public institutions, large and medium-sized enterprises, financial institutions, international organizations, social organizations and other organizations,etc.

2. Business Administration
Training objectives: To cultivate application-oriented talents who have the basic quality and operational ability of management, economy and enterprise management can make use of modern enterprise management methods and means to make business decisions and effective management for enterprises, institutions and government departments.
Main courses: Western economics, management, basic accounting, statistics principle, organizational behavior, management information system, production and operation management, enterprise strategy management, modern enterprise management, marketing, financial management, economic law, project management, human resource management, core curriculum design, enterprise management and production integration. 3. Engineering cost
Training objectives: To cultivate compound and advanced application-oriented engineering cost management talents who are all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, students will own the basic knowledge of management, economics and civil engineering technology, master the scientific theory, method and means of modern engineering cost management, obtain the basic skills in building engineering measurement, valuation and management, get the basic training of cost engineer, have the ability of investment decision-making, all stages of the project cost management in the whole process, with healthy personality and good social adaptability.

Training objectives: To cultivate compound and advanced application-oriented management talents with comprehensive management capability and innovative consciousness of construction projects, our students should have all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, own the basic knowledge of economic, management, law and civil engineering technology, master the basic theory of construction project management, and get the basic skills of the whole process planning, management and practical operation of the construction project.
